Tips on adding articles on Joomla 1.5
Joomla is one of the most popular content management systems used today. Being a free utility, Joomla allows users to add, remove, edit and syndicate content. Joomla also allows website owners and bloggers to do all of this without any real knowledge of HTML. With Joomla, adding articles to your website is a very easy process, especially if you are using Joomla 1.5.

Here is how you can add articles to your website by using Joomla 1.5:
  1. Start by logging into your administrator’s control panel. All you have to do is point your browser to the “yoursite.com/administrator/” tab and then enter your username and password.

  2. Now go to the “Add Article” button and click on it. You will be taken to the article composition screen.

  3. Once you reach this screen, make sure you enter your article’s title right at the top. You can also enter an “alias” or alternate title, but this is optional and will not be seen on your website. However, it can help to refine the search results. Next, use the two pull down menus to select the section and category that your article belongs in.

  4. Next, type in the introduction of your article. This intro text will be displayed on your website along with a “Read More” button that will take your visitors to the full article. So, make sure your intro is nothing more than a short summary of the article.

  5. Once you are done with the intro text, then scroll down and click on the “Read More” button. A red line will appear under the intro text, which is the basic marking of where the “read more” gets cut off.

  6. Under the red line, type in the main body of your article. This will only be visible to your visitors once they click on the “Read More” tab.

  7. Towards the right hand side of the screen, the Author’s information will be seen. You can either type in the Author’s name or you can select a registered member on your site. This step is not compulsory but if you do skip this step, it will show that the Author is administrator, which does not look very professional.

  8. Click on the “Metadata Information” box and type in your metatags. This is where you will include a description of your article and a keyword tags list. This step is also not compulsory but will help to bring about better search engine rankings for your site.

  9. At the top of the screen, you can click on the save button to ensure that your article is published to your site.
If there are any changes that need to be made to your article, you can do so by using the Article Manager. Click on the Article Manager button and then click on the “Content” link.
